Stereoscopic Animation for glasses-free 3D display
For the group exhibition ‘Gott und die Welt’ * at HGB Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig I’ve created these pseudo-stereoscopic image. Coming from the classic genre of the diorama - very popular in 19th century few decades before the invention of photography - I’ve had the idea that glasses-free 3D displays are the dioramas of the 21st century. Stereoscopy is at least old as photography - so it is pretty clear that the spatial illusion of the diorama was leading to the invention of spatial capturing of reality in stereoscopic photography.
For this particular artwork I’ve developed a software transforming the layers of 2D vector graphics in a z-axis.
* “Gott und die Welt”, literally translated “God and the World” is a german expression that means “everything and nothing”
